As Corporate Medical Purchaser for Sprenger Enterprise, Kim Clark was attracted to the low prices of Panacea mattresses. But it wasn’t long before she discovered the added benefits Panacea provides her Ohio-based organization.

"My first facility liked them so much, we’re switching all our homes to Panacea," says Clark about turning over all of her facilities to Panacea mattresses. "One of our residents said, ‘It feels like I’m sleeping on marshmallows; they’re so soft,’" she adds.
"Our Panacea mattresses are a lot softer," says Clark. "Some of the mattresses we purchased before were so hard. They were supposed to be pressure-reducing, but they didn’t seem to be at all."
With exclusive features that address prevention through Stage IV pressure ulcers, Panacea foam and powered mattresses support residents, advance clinical care and increase confidence in Long Term Care facilities – all while helping them comply with F-Tag 314.
"We had one home that had all innerspring mattresses, and there were a lot of wound issues there. That’s why we needed to get something else right away," says Clark. "I guarantee that home’s wound care is doing a lot better now with Panacea."
Innerspring mattresses are great for residents who are not at risk of developing pressure ulcers, but they don’t provide adequate pressure reduction and redistribution. They should primarily used for creating comfortable sleeping environments as opposed to pressure-reducing aids.
Panacea foam mattresses are effective for pressure reduction, redistribution, and wound prevention through Stage I, II and Single Site Stage III wounds. Plus, they have been tested to meet FDA entrapment guidelines when used with beds from Direct Supply.
Panacea powered mattresses help prevent and manage Stage III and IV wounds. Most powered mattresses offer relief by alternating areas of pressure. Some also add air therapy to help keep the mattress surface and resident cool, to prevent sweating and skin maceration.
Many Panacea mattresses – like the Clinical Plus that Kim Clark chose – feature 3" raised side bolsters to provide an extra measure of safety by helping residents at risk of falls or entrapment from shifting dangerously close to the mattress edge – without serving as a restraint.
The 15-year warranties are saving me three times as much money."

Warranties
Every Panacea mattress is backed by a full, non-prorated warranty to ensure superior product performance. Kim Clark decided to purchase a Panacea with a 15-year warranty as opposed to the 5-year warranty she was previously relying on.
"There’s a gigantic savings when you only have to buy one mattress every 15 years instead of every five years," says Clark. "I won’t have to buy new mattresses as often, and I think it’s going to be a big savings and a lot less headaches every five years."
I just tell Jamie what I need, and she takes it from there
– I’m pretty spoiled."

To help Long Term Care comply with F-Tag 314, the Panacea line offers a solution for everything from preventing to treating pressure ulcers.
To help facilities comply with fire regulations 16 CFR 1633, CA #129 and TB 603, Panacea mattresses feature the revolutionary Integrity 30™ fire barrier. Integrity 30™ is a tubular barrier, consisting of modacrylic fiberglass and polyester, that completely encases the mattress to form fire protection that surpasses 16 CFR 1633, CA #129 and TB 603.
When Kim Clark needed to find a quality yet affordable mattress for her facilities, she knew she could count on her Direct Supply account manager, Jamie.
"Because I value her [Jamie’s] opinion, when I needed a ton of mattresses, I asked her which ones she thought would be sturdy, hold up and have a good warranty. She was the one who showed me Panacea," says Clark.
"And I actually visited Direct Supply and saw them myself. So I actually got to see the layers and the inside of each of the mattresses," she adds.
Clark also appreciates the financing options Direct Supply offers.
"Jamie lets me know about free shipping and that’s when I buy in bulk. And she talked to Financial Services for me. They split the bill into two or three equal parts every month, so we don’t have to pay all at one time. Everyone is very helpful."
